Historical Monument of Karauli Jaduvanshi raja Gopal Singh ji

Historical monument of Karauli — Raja Gopal Singh’s Canotaph —–

The windowed wall which was built by Maharaja Gopal Singh encloses a garden in which stands the only temp of any pretension in Karauli .This is the cenotaph of Raja Gopal Singh ,the prestige of whose name was great enough to secure him a monument which seems to have been as much a tribute of fear as of admiration ;for the gallant chief ,it was said , still haunted the scenes where he had lived and still retained some portion of the power he had possessed when in human flesh .The building is a handsome “Chhatri “of the ordinary kind ;close to it is the “Chhatri “of Raja Kunwar Pal but striking only from its insignificance .With the exception of Raja Dharam Pal , no other chiefs of Karauli have cenotaphs , but there is a small one near the mint in honor of Age Pal , son of Raja Ratan Pal .
