History of Karauli Jadon ( Ancient Yadavas /Yaduvanshi ) Lunar race Kshatriya’s  fort Sapotra and It’s Rulers   ——-

A considerable Rajput fort is here garrisoned by 50 men and possesses a good water tank.It is 7 miles east of Jerota  .The fort was built 200 years back by Uday Pal , son of Karauli Raja Ratanpal ,and till about 75 years ago ,the village ,which up to that period had remained in the hands of his descendants ,was escheated to the Raja as Lord paramount.
This is one of the largest and most prosperous villages in the tahsil ,having 500 houses ,the poorer ones often have the “pathor “roof of “bhura “or yellow sandstone.Havelis ,or houses entirely of masonry ,are many ,water in 25 cubits from the surface.Minas hold the zamindari.
Sapotra town is situated  in very hilly country due south of the Karauli capital and connected thereby with by a Kuchha road in some places impossible for cart traffic , at a distance of about 25 miles.
It is situated in the Jerota tahsil in that time ,of which it is the most important town , though owing to administrative reasons the tehsil office are not located here .The village occupies an area of 1,745 acres .About 3.5 Km from here is located the Kali Singh Minor bund.
The village was famous for export of gun powder to the former Kota and Bundi and dyeing and printing clothes.The village has a police station , an allopathic dispensary ,a veterinary dispensery ,a post and telegraph office ,a telephone exchange etc.The village is electrified and water is obtained from wells.
There is a temple called Virvasin in Sootra tahsil ,where a fair is held in March-April every year where 20,000 persons assemble to offer worship to Vivasin Mata .The temple of Virvasin Mata ,though small ,is beautiful built and houses the idol of Virvasin Mata and other hindu deities.
